Parks are places to wander about and enjoy your surroundings. In a summer day at the park ilse invites us to wander between the beauty and joy that such a day might inspire. Like a walk in the park, you’ll keep finding new things when looking closely. Ilse’s work consists of little moments at the park translated in soft and gentle illustrations and ceramics.

graduation: a day at the park
Het afstudeerwerk a day at the park is een samenkomst van tekeningen en keramische objecten die bij elkaar gebracht ‘het park’ representeren. Het park is voor Ilse een plek dat fijne gevoelens oproept, een plek waar je kan dwalen en kan genieten van je omgeving.
Deze gevoelens heeft ze meegenomen in een eigen park waarin de verfijnde werken in wisselende omvang je uitnodigen om een visuele wandeling te maken door de installatie.
The graduation project a day at the park is a collection of drawings and ceramic objects that, brought together, represent 'the park'. For Ilse, the park is a place full of joy and beauty, a place where you can wander and enjoy your surroundings.
She translated these feelings into her own park in which the gentle works of varying sizes invite you to take a visual walk through the installation.
DIERENTUIN | ZOO
In de eerste helft van 2021 maakte Ilse werk over de dierentuin. Door het coronavirus waren alle dierentuinen gesloten, dus Ilse besloot te gaan tekenen over de plek waar ze zo graag komt. Ze is zelfs om een paar dichte dierentuinen heen gaan wandelen, in de hoop nog een glimp op te vangen van de binnenkant. Haar tekeningen en boetseerwerk resulteerde in verschillende manieren om je eigen dierentuin te kunnen bouwen, zoals dieren en planten in een stickerboekje en dieren met dierentuinassecoires van keramiek en hout.
In the first half of 2021, Ilse made work about the zoo. All zoos were closed due to the coronavirus, so Ilse decided to draw about this place which she loves to come to. She’s even walked around a few closed zoos, hoping to catch a glimpse of the inside. Her drawings and ceramics resulted in different ways to build your own zoo, like animals and plants in a sticker booklet and animals with zoo accessories from ceramics and wood.
ERGENS THUIS - Kakkerlakje uitgeverij Loopvis
Voor uitgeverij Loopvis illustreerde Ilse het Kakkerlakje 'Ergens Thuis', een boekje met verschillende verhalen en illustraties over verhuizen. Naast haar illustraties staan er teksten in van Ted van Lieshout, Erik van Os, Floortje Schoevaart, Linda Vogelesang en Bette Westera.
Het boekje is net zoals andere Kakkerlakjes bedoeld om te verzenden of te verzamelen. Je kan het boekje vinden in veel boekenwinkels in Nederland en ook in de webshop van uitgeverij Loopvis.
For Publishing House Loopvis, Ilse illustrated ‘Ergens Thuis’ (which could be translated as ‘Somewhere at Home’), a booklet with various stories and illustrations about moving. In the booklet there are various texts from the writers Ted van Lieshout, Erik van Os, Floortje Schoevaart, Linda Vogelesang and Bette Westera.
Like other the other booklets from Loopvis, this booklet is meant to be sent or collected. You can find the booklet in many bookstores in the Netherlands and also in the webshop of publisher Loopvis.
JUNGLE
In 2020 maakte Ilse een reeks tekeningen over de jungle. Haar inspiratie haalde ze uit verschillende natuurdocumentaires, foto’s en haar eigen fantasie.
Ilse maakte dagelijks kleine tekeningetjes over de eerste dingen die bij haar opkwamen als ze dacht aan de jungle. Dat resulteerde in veel bomen! Ilse houdt ervan om te verdwalen in het tekenen van al die kronkelige lijnen van de takken, de nerven en de wortels.
In 2020 Ilse made a series of drawings about the jungle. She got her inspiration from various nature documentaries, photos and her own imagination.
Ilse made small daily drawings about the first that came to her mind when thinking about the jungle. So she drew a lot of trees! Ilse loves it to lose herself in drawing all those squiggly lines in the branches, veins and roots from all those trees.
IEWL ZINE
IEWL is een zine over vieze enge beestjes en hun kleine kriebelige pootjes. Ilse houdt helemaal niet van insecten, maar ze vindt ze wel heel leuk om te tekenen. IEWL is het eerste boekje dat Ilse in oplage heeft gemaakt.
IEWL is a zine about nasty creepy critters and their peculiar little paws. Ilse does not like insects at all, but she does find them interesting to draw. IEWL is the first zine Ilse printed.
